I was very skeptical with the color of water but pushed out a bit with no success for about an hour. Got a strange strike and set the hook expecting a large Cat the way it fought
This is the largest Carp I’ve seen not to mention caught. This was definitely a runner and it was a lucky hook outside the mouth. I was in one of my flounder hold throwing MM. Moved back down the Cooper towards the landing and found reds but they seem to be running a bit deeper
Found this out by luck with the swim bait bumping the bottom and trying to maneuver the boat with wind and tide going (blowing) the same direction somewhat. Used spotlock quite a bit on this trip. Kept this up for a couple hours and hooked many 20 or so wasn’t counting but landed 8 and back at the Hill around 11:45. Great day of fishing
Man, you never cease to amaze, do you!? That’s absolutely wild … I thought they only ate sugar bread, you’ve definitely got the touch. Im going in the morning if I have to walk down to the landing and fish from the dang pier! Thanks for showing us how it’s done
Nice buddy. I never knew there were grass carp in that area until I volunteered on an electrofishing trip with DNR. We passed by a tree I frequently fish, and the amount of 40 lb carp that rose up from under that tree is burned in my memory. Who knew? Never heard of anyone catching one…until now. #legend
I’ve been taking most of August off due to the hot water. Been fishing for bowfin up near the Santee a few trips now and having a lot of fun. They are a surprisingly technical bite on artificials. Go ahead and make fun of me, I don’t care!
This was the haul under one tree. Look closely at the variety of fish. There were some bream over a pound too. There were more carp rising as I took this. We had to pretend we didn’t see them because there was no more room at the inn!
