Bushy Park

I over heard a conversation the other day that they are not going to deepen the salt water side instead build another boat landing further up river , has anyone heard this.

I think its all in flux. There is an undersea cable plant being built just upriver from Bushy and the Cooper will be dredged to accommodate large ships. A lot is going to change in that area in coming years.

Hope it is further DOWN, not up. Further UP could be accessed by Cypress Gardens. Further down isn’t access until Remley’s.

The biggest problem with further DOWN is the weapons station and access… I drive through there on the way to work and keep thinking about throwing in my kayak sometime. I wonder what the patrol boats would think?

Thought about putting my yak in there but it seems you are a little limited to where you can fish unless to try to venture out pass the bouys.

General Engineering Laboratories won the bid to do the dredging feasibility study for Bushy Park. The study includes items like hydrographic survey, dredge volume calcs, recommendations for dredging, dredging scenarios, permitting, economic impact, sediment analysis, etc…

This study will then be given to Berkeley County to determine if they want to proceed. I do not know when the feasibility study will be done.

The patrol boats would STRONGLY suggest you move on. Ask me how I know [:I]

Exactly my thoughts! My post was more of a tongue-in-cheek response, although I would love to fish the area.

Thanks. I’m a member there but was thinking of others. My CS trailers deep, making me back further than one would imagine. I’ve had the bumper in at Hess, so I’ve been avoiding it most tides. I love the boat but its like the trailer was an afterthought. Really lousy.

I haven’t tried the Westvaco landing next door but need to. I’m sure my boat can handle it. Anyone have troubles leaving their vehicle and trailer there before?

And Yak either side of 526 @ Virgina Ave. in N. Chuck. Hess is private, Westvaco isn’t.
