Got out for a short while this morning and fished a few areas. After a few cast flounder too small and headed for the trees as the tide was pushing me that direction(out going) and hit a 28" 7lbs red. What a nice fish, then off too another area caught a few trouts and numerous small reds and back home. All swam away for another day.

Yes POD I’m still running after flounders. But once I hit my trees I’m in an attack mode for Big Reds. I then switch from trout eyes to my regular round jigheads with the wire hooks. I lose to many trout eyes to trees whereas the wire hooks pull out in most cases. May have to replace the jighead but not bust that spiderwire line. fishing is rather expensive fishing trees and stump areas. Tagged flounder and all reds.

Flywatt, everyone is having issues at the landing and it is getting worse and worse. If the ‘stream’ isn’t 15ft wide or so I wouldn’t even try to plow through that muck anymore these days. Even on my boat it can be a bear and mine drafts 10" or so loaded.

flywatt I draft about 2’ with a heavy 18’ seafox deep V but my Baby planes quickly without trim tabs and knowing the trail in and out makes a difference but at times I’m kicking up mud so if you see me turn that corner coming in get the heck out the way because I’m coming. But I perfer to fish that extra couple hrs then come in.

Sounds like yall need to do a little unauthorized agitation dredging:imp: Get a big set of old bed springs and sink them, mark with a crab trap float. Every time you go out, hook up to it and drag it behind you. Then on the way back in, hook it up and drag it back. Works best on an outgoing tide. Do this for a few weeks and you’ll have a channel. Don’t tell anybody though!
My Carolina Skiff only drafts 7-9", I think I’d be alright getting in/out with my trolling motor if I had to. I think I’m just going to give it a shot. Worst case scenario, I’ll wait for water to come back in and fish in the mud.
I recently read that the county budgeted $113k to research moving the boat ramp out of the cove and into the river. That’d be good.

I have fish bushy park for 30 years. We never had a silt problem till Nucor showed up. Those tug boats churn up alot of silt. And it naturally settles in the cove.
