butterfly jigs

so i picked up a couple of the butterfly jigs to use for snapper and grouper while im in diego garcia, but does anyone know how well they work for other fish too? im thinking about dropping them in the middle of the pogy pods near the beach and wondering if anyone else has actually done that. id have to imagine tarpon, cobia, kingfish, cudas, and jack crevalle would slap them as well?

Best for vertical jigging, but have casted them to schools of fish and cranked like hell and hooked up.

They work on top or bottom. You just have to vary your retrieves for the desired depth, action, and speed based on the mood of the fish. I’ve yet to out reel a bonita or cobia when they want it on top.

i guess i forgot to mention that ill be in a kayak and have no problem getting right on top of or right beside the school and plan on vertical jigging. ive trolled squid skirts both on the surface and from a downrigger lowered by paracord with hand sized menhaden and caught sail cats, sharks, and watched a small cobia steal my bait before, but the butterfly jigs have my curiosity on what may be hiding underneath the schools aside from what ive already caught and tarpon chasing the menhaden all over.

I caught a 15lb. King Mac. on a butterfly jig while bottom fishing recently.
