Buying a fishing Kayak

I am looking to buy a YAK for fishing and am leaning toward the WILDERNESS RIDE or the MALIBU X FACTOR. I am looking for a good used Yak if possible. What are your ideas and recommendations. I am a 300lb older man but still strong and have stamina for paddling etc.

WS are good boats and the ride is very stable… I don’t know about Malibu boats, I would suggest a Ocean Kayak for stability and comfort for us bigger guys

The ride is a good boat, but wet. Ocean kayak is a good big guy kayak, so is the Malibu. you won’t find a used Malibu around here. They’re more popular in FL and TX

You can usually find WS boats on craigslist on the classifieds on one of the kayak fishing forums.

Over 300lbs would consider a Hobie Pro Angler. Great Kayak and good platform to fish out of.

Hobie Revo
Hobie Outback

Hi, Thanks I’ve thought about the Hobies’ but they are out of my price range right now.

I dont have one of these but I’ve spoken to folks who know and they say that they are extremely stable, well made, dry and can handle your weight without a problem http://www.shopgetoutdoors.com/boats/rec_kayaks/ultimate14solo.html I’m also told they have the most comfortable seat of any Kayak. That may be important for a big guy.

i have 1 for sale in the classifieds. great fishing yak and holds the weight very well.
