I’m totally nerding out right now. Last year, I fished approx 2 times a week between April and October. $2 (a bag) x 8 (bags a month) x 7 (months) = $112. $112 for ice chips that usually melt before I get home in my expensive cooler. Not this year.
I picked up a set of rectangular tupperware at dollar general. Fill with water, freeze for a few hours, pop it out and store in a bag. Repeat until bag is full.
The best part is, the blocks are big enough that they don’t melt completely. Pop them back in the freezer when you get home.
And another tip, people usually ditch their ice bag at the ice vending machines. Free ice bags
I would freeze large soda bottles for ice…until The Warden filled the freeze with food and left me no room for my ice bottles.

I use the plastic Blue Bunny ice cream containers. I keep about 8-10 of them. The chunks last longer than cubes for sure. A 1 gallon milk jug works well too. Beat it with a hammer then cut it open with a box cutter.

I have used one gallon bleach jugs for years. I don’t cut them open or anything. Just throw them back in the freezer when you get home. Works fine, last a long time.
I think I’m sold on the 2 liter frozen bottles. Super easy. Appreciate all the recommendations! No just to figure out how I’m going to spend all the money I save.
I use bleach/soap mix to wash the boat down everyday so I reuse the bleach bottles as ice jugs. Eventually they start to leak but I just throw them out and use new ones.
