There’s an idea floating around of a “Cabelas Outpost” over on Lake Russell since it has such a remote feel. I think a cabin/lodge is in the works in Calhoun Falls that will be a rare lake view/accessible facility with rooms, common area and board room kind of area. It may be branded as the Cabelas Outpost. Demo days and potentially even test/sample equipment may be there for free use when staying there.
Not sure of where it stands, but it sounds like a good extension of their business for the upstate. I’ve just heard bits and pieces.

We will have a Cabela’s, Academy, Dick’s,a Sports Authority outlet and an REI all within a square mile. Will be an interesting fight. As for me and my house our money goes to Haddrell’s. (with a few dollars to Charleston Angler… all this after my annual support payment to Charleston Marine.
SA in Greenville, going out of business, currently everything 20-25% including Gulp, etc. Got a nice heavy duty rod rack, must hold at least 20 rods, for $5. Last day will be 2/23.
Most of my money goes to Haddrell’s Point also…but Cabela’s will be fun and right across the street from Twin Peaks!
I’m kind of indifferent about them coming, maybe a little against it seeing how Woodruff Rd really doesn’t need anymore traffic on it. It used to be “something” to go to Cabela’s. We had our elk hunting trips timed so that we left Greer at 9am in the morning and got to the Sydney NE store right at 7am. That was back when it was really the only retail outlet and the warehouse was right down the road in Kearney. I guess it says something about our town and it’s potential seeing as the closest ones are Hamburg PA, Charleston WV and Gonzales, LA (been in all of them even if just to stop and stretch my legs). I do like them better than Bass Pro and while I will probably get some of my hunting stuff there, my fishing money will still travel down the road to the coast and end up in the registers of Haddrells, Charleston Angler and Lowcountry Fly Shop.
