since my boat was at hanckle getting a checkup, had to borrow a buddy’s boat. Kept it close to town fishing Saturday. Found decent bait quickly and headed out south. Started in the minefield with nothing but little nuisance bites. Moved 4 miles out and worked it for a while. Roll call oscillates between shark and finfish. 1st king of the day was the biggest and was the first pelagic fish my 5 year old ever caught. He also got a cobia (1/2" short). Only other king was a snake on the unintended release which stunk for my buddys son as it would have been worth a trophy. Moved back to the channel but wind and current were not favorable. The king held on for second in the tournament and he got fourth place angler. The boy is just beaming over the fish and trophies.
SCSSA: His fish also managed to hang on for first in the scssa and he got youth angler in that tournament. Couldn’t be more excited for him.
