Can anyone id this fish

caught in Georgetown today.

Ask me no questions I’ll tell you no lies.

Northern Stargazer…they have organs to produce an electric shock on their heads.

Native Manta Ray 14

Caught one of those guys last year on a mudminnow …

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

Next question, any good to eat???

Seems like it might taste like monkfish (anglerfish) lol.

Not a clue, the electric shock was enough to tell me to leave them alone

SOUTHERN Stargazer. On the Northern the center stripe on the tail would extend a ways up the center of the body (from tail toward head).

Like any toadfish type, you can skin and eat the tail. It’s white meat. Better wear rubber gloves. [:0]

Thanks for the help.

Just give him a kiss on the forehead and send him on his way.
