Can I get some advice??

There is plenty of shore access for surf fishing. I’ve never cared for it much myself but right now you can catch whiting (southern kingfish) reds, sharks and rays for sure, maybe some trout or pompano. People do very well in the surf, it’s just not my kind of fishing.

I don’t know enough about Charleston to tell you exactly where, I live a little further south of there. But good luck and welcome to the low country:smiley:

Make a friend who owns a boat

There’s about a thousand walk to places if you are willing to put the time in and look for them. Seems like a lot of people come here looking for hand outs; you usually won’t get them.

What have you tried so far and what are your expectations? What worked for you back in Ohio?

The guy just moved here, and was asking for basic advice.

I’m sure if he wanted an internet bashing from a prick with 20,000+ posts he’d have asked for that.

Don’t worry, since he’s asking about bank or surf fishing your ultra secret “spots” like the coal tipple and the jetties are safe.

How many “spots” have you nabbed using the bent pole pattern? My guess would be all of them.

Truth!!

One Simple Thanks!!

LOL, that’s adorable. I only steal spots from Fritz; everyone knows he has the best spots anyways.

I’ve taken more people from out of state fishing here than you’ll ever know buddy. His username indicates Ohio; that’s why I asked. Fishing there is a lot different than fishing here.

UCEAST, feel free to PM me your contact info and I’ll be glad to show you around some afternoon when you are free.

Edge water park not a park just a area by abridge to fish has trout and reds and rantowels creek by the little hotel/motel thing has trout reds and stripers at certain times of the both have alright fishing and are in the west Ashley area, as well as St. Andrews park also has a brackish pond and small creek where you can catch reds and other stuff. Pretty much under any bridge on a good creek or river is a good spot to fish just usually hang ups. Surf fishing around here is decent and same can be said for the piers its just most fish are less than 5lbs except for the bigger reds and sharks and arties don’t work that well in our surf compared to other areas.

Didn’t know that, thanks

Very true, but I’m pretty sure there are no trespassing signs there. However, on the opposite side of the road, there is a pathway next to the little bridge where I’ve seen plenty of people fishing. Fast moving water at times. Be safe getting off the road there; most people are going 60mph on that stretch.

Thanks for the info guys!

All that typing just to get SPAMED [:0]

No spam at all, trying to get people to understand that my name has nothing to do with college sports. Never been a fan of any sports except fishing. I fish UC rods and I’m on the east coast, pretty simple

UCEAST , I’m just messing with ya . You will need a tough hide to stay in here at times . Lot’s of people like to stir the pot .
Take sailfish up on his offer , he knows things and lots of people , a super nice fellow too . You won’t regret it .
Welcome to the site and let us know how you do .

Right on, I’ve been on other forums where some people just like starting crap. Looking forward to the fishing here and maybe meeting up with some of you guys at some point.

I just sent you an email. give me a shout if you want to come out sometime and well go bang em up. I’m pretty much game to fish any time except Monday through Friday from 9-5. unless the weathers nice and I suddenly get a sore throat.
