Can you Charge Trolling battery from Boat Motor?

Long story short, i have 4 batteries, One for my motor that also runs all the standard stuff on the boat, one just for my fish finder which was a good idea now that I think about it , but was an accident as I bought the wrong kind of battery for my trolling motor. And last but not least 2 deep cycle batteries for my trolling motor.

What is the easiest way to keep my trolling batteries charged? I am going on vacation for a week and I may not have access to electricity to charge them, and I really dont want to haul them back and forth. I have considered Solar Chargers and also letting the motor charge them with a switch. What are you guys doing?

i think you are gonna need one of those perko switches. jan

The easiest and best way is to get a Stealth 1 charging system. It hooks directly to your batteries, when plugged into 120 AC it will charge all the batteries but not overcharge. When running the outboard it will recharge your cranking battery first and then charge your other batteries. I have found that it charges the trolling motor batteries well enough that when I get back home and plug it in to the wall outlet that it usually only needs to charges a few minutes. They supposedly also make a device that hooks into your trailer wiring and charges the batteries while towing.

Stealth 1 charging system is awesome. The towing option connects to your towing vehicles battery and will charge the batteries while you drive down the road. Trust me I had this system on my last boat.

just out of curiosity how much doe a system like this stealth cost?

Good charging system will run you about $150 mine did.

Jimmy, my Stealth 1 was installed at factory but I think it itemized out at bit over $600 installed. I installed an onboard 3 bank charger from BassPro on my previous skiff that was less than $200 but the Stealth 1 is in a class of its own.

What kind of boat? The one in you signature line?

Yeah, the Stealth1 is on my Egret. Do you think the Gators have any chance tonight? I think the Vols will come out on top. Going by today and pick up some green peanuts to boil for tonight.
