Now that you are totally confused by my question, let me explain…
I can get my boat on plane with one motor, but it is not pretty… everyone and everything goes to the bow, but i am assuming that if i was in 3’ seas, im not planning.
Was thinking of purchasing a 15 pitch prop to keep in the boat for just this reason. Thinking a single F150 would get me upper 20’s with a low pitch prop on a 255 sea pro.
Now the dumb question… if my counter motor is the one left standing, and i have a standard prop, can i run it in reverse for 80 miles in?
I have no idea how the tranmission, or gears work in the lower unit, so i have no idea what goes on down there in reverse.
Good plan… or dumb idea?
can and should are 2 very different meanings.
can you sure…
should you,not from what i have been told.(will damage the LU)
get a good tow service and don’t worry about it.make the call put out some trolling lines until they intercept you…
A good tow service would work a lot better. Just a thought.

Can you… yes…will it make it back …I say no… reverse in the lower units is designed for min. use.

I think you have a very good assesment of the situation…however,I would not push my luck. 3k and get home…
I’m tired of being told that I have to “spread the wealth” to people who don’t have my work ethic. I’m tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it. I think I’m going fishing…!!

Got towboat US, but seems like everytime i am on the way in, i get the chit beat out of us! Would rather not have to take 10 hours in missery to wait for a tow boat or come in on one motor at hull speed…
Bought a set of 15 pitch alluminum props on ebay today just for humor. Got them for $30, just to see what it will do on one motor. I got plenty of space on the boat to keep them, since i rarely catch any fish offshore anyway.
Guess i could just trade the yammy’s for ETEC’s… JK
it will work, and you would most likely make it home, but its definately not worth it.
if you have the room, get a left and right prop, then you are covered
