I’ve hunted Alberta 4 times along the years with 2 different outfitters with pretty good success, but it’s been a while since I was up there (2002). I may end up hunting with one of them again for mule deer but kind of exploring options. I killed a 5x5 mule deer last time that scored 180 and my last whitetail in Alberta was a 153. I’m thinking of trying Saskatchewan for a change for whitetails since I’ve never hunted there and it’s a known place for big whitetails, as is Alberta.
Have any of you guys hunted with anyone in either province you would recommend? Looking for wild ranging, fair chase only (none of those genetically farm raised deer).
I’ve got a few options in mind based on some research but would check references before I go with any outfit I’m not familiar with.
If ya’ll have any recommendations, it would be greatly appreciated.
Iv’e fished with this guy several years in the past. He might know who to hook you up with. Dave does mostly trout and birds, but he knows the guiding profession very well. Good luck!
How’s your chance of getting a shot at a Moose or Elk? Not a lot of sport in either, but they do taste MUCH better than a Mule deer!
I’m probably not helping much as I assume you are going for a trophy. Maybe stick to the U.S. and try for a prong horn. Very elusive and super hard to sneak up on and tastes good.
Always wanted to hunt an elk…it’s on the bucket list. Pronghorn too…they are a little farther down on the bucket list but occupying a spot!
Thanks for the info guys. I’m weighing some options in Saskatchewan for whitetail deer this time around.
