Cancun Fishing

I just returned from a trip to Cancun where I fished the Nichupte Lagoon for 2 half day charters with cancuntarponfishing.com.It was very windy the entire time I was there which made casting frustrating to say the least. In the end I think it was a good thing because I feel that my casting skills have greatly improved. The fishing was a mix of sight casting on the flats to snook and occasional bonefish and casting to the edge of the mangroves to baby tarpon. I struck out the first day and the second day was rescheduled from Mon. to Wed. afternoon due to wind. Wed. turned out to be the day. I jumped 2 Tarpon and landed 2 in about 20 minutes in the mangroves at dusk.I fished on a 17ft. Mav. Mirage. That is one sweet boat! I used my 8 and 10 wt. rods but the charter has excellent equipment available. I highly recommend this trip for anyone who is in the Cancun area. You get 6 solid hrs. of fishing in the hotel zone(Very spouse friendly!) Mike
