I have a MotorGuide Great White 82 trolling motor. Often the motor seizes up and I pour oil into the housing and finally get it going. I decided I would just pull the prop and slowly pull the motor out and clean everything. Once it is runing it does a great job. Only problem is I cannot get the propeller off. Retaining nut came off easy, but that impeller is stuck on the shaft. Cannot get it to budge with either hammer or gear puller. Been spraying the part of the shaft I can see with liquid wrench. Still no go.
Next up is the blow torch.
Any other suggestions?

Don’t know that particular motor but it sounds like you may have a bunch of fishing line wrapped around the shaft behind the prop. Work a large fish hook in the gap between the motor and the prop and see if it hangs up. You can use a gut hook knife to remove the line if it will fit.
CUT THE PLASTIC PROP OFF AND START FROM THERE

IF I RESPOND IN ALL CAPS, ITS NOT ON PURPOSE, AND I AM NOT YELLING
Prop is metal. Taking the torch to it in a few minutes. It may still get cut off.

It is off. Lots of heat, being careful to make same all around. Upward pound with hammer and going around to make sure not bending shaft. Get it up enough to put screwdrivers around and off it comes. Wrapped around base of shaft was years of line, but only at shaft and no way to get to it. For several years I would pour oil between casting and propeller, but when open, there was no place for the oil to go. Who knows what got it to run in the past.
Next week sliding things apart to at least flush. Hope to sand the armateur with fine sandpaper and remove all or any salt.
