Can't find a catfish to save my life

My dad and I have been trying to get into some catfish. We usually leave out of Black’s Camp, We’ve drifted up and down the diversion canal, with live and cut mullet, and herring. Anchored around 30 ft hole(s), even tried some drifting out in the middle of the lake…and NOT a single one Cat, while other people are pulling in cooler fulls of catfish

any tips on not getting skunked ?

Try going in closer to shore, been getting them in shallow water at least on other side of lake by dike

we managed to catch 3 in about 1hr saturday afternoon at moultrie. missed another and also caught one mudfish. fished in 10’ of water with fresh cut herring.

In my experience the catfishing is better in the diversion canal when there is a good flow of water. I was up there a few weekends ago and it was hardly moving…

You’re probably fishing too deep.

Start fishing first thing in the morning very shallow. Don’t feel silly fishing around cypress trees for catfish. As the day goes on and it gets hotter, start sliding out into 6’-10’ or so.

Fished Moultrie Sat night, caught 13 in about 4.5 or 5 hrs in 4ft of water.

Yep, if they aren’t pulling water, not much happening in the canal.
