can't spit without hitting sharks

Fished Copahee for 3 hours today; last of incoming and a couple hours of outgoing.

Spot #1, covered in baby black tips. They ate anything that passed by; real shrimp, fake shrimp, slow sinking Bomber, and Z Man Rain MinnowZ.

Spot #2, spooked reds on the mud flat, fish everywhere. Reds, sting rays, big mullet, finger mullet, and menhaden. The flat was just THICK with life. Reds were UBERSPOOKY; put a bait within 5 feet and they’d freak out.

Spot #3, hoping for trout, sharks, sharks, and more sharks. Baby blacktips, 3 foot sandbar, small sharpnose, small scalloped hammerhead, small bonnethead. 5 specie shark trip :stuck_out_tongue:

Spot #4, hoping for flounder, sharks, blues, silver perch, more sharks.

Highlight of the day was 2 throws of the cast net. One throw had a keeper flounder mixed in with the school of finger mullet. The next throw yielded about 2 pounds of shrimp; mixed small bait to shrimp cocktail size.

Called it a day about 12:30

Copahee has been a mixed bag for me this year too…mostly sharks, but also some good trout and a nice-flying ladyfish.

There were some nice bonnets cruising the edges today. Could have had some high speed sleigh rides.

I need a sleigh ride, what tide was it Mr. Busy

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

Silver Perch? Isn’t that a freshwater fish? Is Copahee brackish? I don’t know all the fishes around here yet… I caught a Ribbon Fish the other day and I’d never even seen one before.

I can’t swear that’s the right name. It looked just like a freshwater white perch, just shinier

Well I pulled out my saltwater fishes chart and sure enough Silver Perch is on there. There’s still a lot I need to learn about the local fish…
