Greetings!
I used to come down 4x per year to fish tailing tides, but the last six years have been unable…work, etc. I understand reluctance to offer spots, I exercise informational caution on my home waters as well. I am strictly a catch and release fly fisherman. I am camping at Buck Hall, and was hoping someone might have some areas to suggest to make my trip a success. I primarily have only fished one flat near the cape with success. Reds are my focus, but I love ANYTHING that provides “the tug”! Lol.
Any help is very much appreciated.
thanks!
C’mon folks, someone please PM me a bone…I’m gonna be tent camping in this crap for four days…
A tailing flat closer to awendaw than the cape is what I would be really hopeful for, cause a ten mile run each way in this weather is really gonna suck and could get hairy. I’m a foolish and obsessed fisherman, and not be stopped by the weather, but not having to head as far out would be really comforting!
There is dry fly fishing year round!
I live in Northeast Tennessee, near Bristol. I have access and intimate knowledge of two phenomenal tailwaters–the South Holston and Watauga rivers. I would be more than happy to return the favor to anyone if they happened to be in my area and are into trout or seasonally, stripers. I’ll even take you fishing if I can! Thanks for any help offered!
Jason

Well, today we some how had every storm swirl around us, and never got poured on.
The wind was pretty rough on the cape 20-25. Decent flood today, but no fish wandered up that we could see. My buddy caught a small flounder, trout, and shark on live finger mullet. Other than that, no action other than the weather. Ahhhh fishing…
