A buddy’s dad came in town so about 5 of us headed out with Chuck Griffin to the Capers Reef (R-8). Didn’t head out until about 8am with the daylight savings time shift. Water was pretty much slick calm on the way out and stayed that way until we headed in around 2pm. Used frozen sand fleas all day with good success trying various spots on the structures. One of my best days on the water all time - between the 5 of us we caught probably 100+ fish as we stopped counting after 10 or so. Reef was super thick with small black sea bass, but we were able to work through those and get some really nice sheepshead. Several were in the 7 to 8 pound range. Tons of other species boated and released including a couple nice black drum, one red, ringtails, pinfish, porgys and a toadfish.
Huge thanks to Chuck for showing the out of towners a great day and sending us home with plenty of dinner.
