CAPPATTACK 5/24

Headed straight out and dropped lines in at 7:30 in 180’ with Louis, his son Patrick and my son Andrew. Nice fast ride out and the action cranked up around 9am with a slinger dolphin. Caught 7 dolphin, 1 wahoo and 1 cuda left behind. Had a few mystery strikes. The color of the day was blue/white and Black/grey/red. Most of the strikes were on the short or medium lines, not much action on the outrigger or center long lines. Stayed in the 200-250’ depth most of the day with a water temp around 74. Picked up and started heading in at 2 with 50 miles to tip of the jeties and man did we hit a storm - surrounded by grey/dark skies and lightening at 40 miles out. Got through the lightening and the last 25 miles was rough. The boys hung in there like champs and had a great day reeling in fish, helping clear lines, opening the fish box and even a little radio chatter. After the long tough ride home we got greeted by the DNR heading to Sullivan’s landing, they just pulled alongside and we opened our fish box and went on to the other boats. The nasty wet ride home didn’t ruin a great day on the ocean.

Nice job. Glad to hear you guys made it in safely.

I was a little skeptical of that small craft advisory until I checked the bouy around 3PM and saw that the wind had turned on big time!

The tournament was cancelled so we’re looking at heading out on Monday.

Good luck on Monday. The day was perfect until that storm kicked in, flat ocean, fish biting, not any weed to clear lines etc. We had planned to head in around 12:30 but we were having too much fun. We probably would have missed it had we left when we planned.
See ya.
