Hey guys,
I live in a neighborhood in west ashley called Capri isle. It’s right on the stono river. I live on the shallow water side of my neighborhood and fish every so often off my dock. I never seem to get anything except for crabs trying to steal my bait. The creek probably gets to about 5ft maybe at high tide. Has anybody had any better luck than me or should I just expect little success?
you would have much better luck fishing at the community boat landing
Too many crabs? 2 options. Keep bait out of their reach (Float/crank bait) or catch the crabs instead.
On gmaps it looks like you need to try to float a bait to some structures. If you can float some bait to a feeder creek or anywhere you see bait hold up you might have some luck.

I want to catch them all
I live in the same neighborhood on Alice drive. I have a couple extra kayaks if you’d like to paddle out to the stono and catch some reds. I’ve caught plenty of fish on surrounding docks and shoals. You’re not gonna catch anything in that canal unless it’s fall and the trout are running…
Put some structure around it and I don’t see why it wouldn’t hold reds at high tide if it gets 5 feet deep. Id think piles of cinder blocks or stones would get some decent growth on them after a few years. I’ve never done that before but I can’t imagine why it wouldn’t work.
