Conditions went south Saturday abou 1200. We started heading back in from the y73 around that time and we were beat up by the time we reached the rocks. My son commented on a cc going out when we were headed back, I figured they knew something we didn’t.

I’m a captain on the Pilot boats and am working night shift this week. It was the day shift that did the rescue. Luckily our guys were offshore for a ship when they heard the call for help. I think the guys in trouble must of had a handheld vhf, because they were still communicating after capsizing. The boat was just offshore of Chas 60. Our guys heard the call for help and put the pedal down. CG Helo arrived just before the Pilot boat. There was one man in the water and the other 3 were on the hull of the overturned vessel. Our guys plucked them out of the water and put them on the CG boat once they arrived on scene. Our guys said they were pretty shook up. Sounded like they had been in the water for a little while.
55 degree water is no joke. Epirb, handeld VHF and GPS could be the difference between life and death in these situations.
Glad it worked out this time.

Btw we made it safely home no it was not us. Should’ve stayed on the hill with deteriorating conditions all day. Did manage some endangered bsbs all released till June.

One of the reasons I wait for the water to warm up before I begin my offshore adventures.

Gasmoney…kudo’s to you and your team for being there. Great job in my opinion. Glad to hear all are ok.

Good that everyone is alright. What happens in a situation like this? Is the boat brought in or sunk?

I would hope they were returning to port after lunch as everyone knew the weather was going south in a hurry. Curious to hear the whole story. 28 ft is no dingy either, but in angry ocean, not much matters. Good on Gasmoney and his team, every second counts.
