I will be using my new-to-me 27ft world cat for diving a lot, so I will be spending a lot of time at anchor.
The windlass that came with the boat was full of salt water and locked up but we managed to bring her back for a little longer. It probably won’t last much longer.
I prefer to run about 8 ft of heavy chain and a claw anchor.
Could I install a capstan winch in place of the windlass with a foot switch, and just use that to pull the rope? After it brought the chain up, I would just secure the chain to the cleats.
Do any of you use a capstan winch to pull anchor?
