This is my first post to the site, I have been jealously reading for about a year. My family loves the Charleston area. We have been vacationing there 1-2 times a year for the last 6 years. This year we chartered an inshore trip with Captain Fritz out of IOP Marina. I’m sure I’ll learn a bunch from him. We are staying on the south end of Kiawah island the 1st week of July not too far from the park. Would I have any luck fishing for reds or sharks around Captain Sams inlet near the park?
Capt sams inlet is a shark haven. I have caught a 6’ blacktip shark right off the bank there, along with many other smaller ones and lots of catfish. Bottom rig cut mullet. Just a FYI, if you are going to the CHS county park and plan on fishing at the inlet, do not cross the dunes to gain access to the river.

Tons of sharks there. I’ve caught plenty of other fish in the creeks there also.
Thanks for the info guys. My son and I are really looking forward to it. We rented a boat last year from IOP marina. We didn’t catch much but had a great time. We were there on an outgoing tide and I was surprised how shallow the harbor can be, 'bout got stuck a few times
You’ll have fun with Capt Fritz, never a dull moment!

You might try Captain Waller -“Saltfisher” on here. He launches from Mingo about 2 miles up from Sam’s.
