Captain's license training

Anyone have any experience with Sea School or any other vendors who offer training for OUPV in the Charleston/Columbia area?

I’d like to know that information also…

I believe Charleston is the only place in SC that has that training…USCG offers it.

in our area, sea school is the best way to go. they offer different class time options so there is usually a scenario to fit anyones schedule

Went through Sea School in March. VERY GOOD CLASS!!! There was alot of things I thought I knew that I did not. The class was good getting your final license is a pain. Sea School really helps you through the process but our government causes a ton of confusion. Total costs will be close to $1000 when it is all said an done.

The following are required:
Sea School = 60 hours (6 10hour days)
Sea School test = CG approved, 5 sections 150ish total questions
Fill out CG captain documents and pay testing fees
TWIC card = have to get in Charleston, requires 2 visits and $135ish
CPR certification
First Aid certification
Days of operation document = you must have 360 days of boat operation
3 Character references
Pass a physical
Pass drug test
Enroll is a random drug testing program (required)

I may have left a few out but everything above has a dollar figure to it and requires you to do something. Sea School lays it out for you but your are ultimately responsible to make sure it all gets done.

Again very good class and program I would highly recommend it!

Behind this helm stands a sickness that not even a women can cure.

scoutin is on the ball…classes are held at least once a month and there are several different class formats to meet your schedule needs…sounds like scoutin took the “fat” weekend schedule…you’ll spend around $900 bucks in total for you license…catherine or pierce can get you set up…843-747-1000 / you can check the website (seaschool.com) for class schedules also
