Hey Y’all. Im going to Captiva and Sannibel for the first week of June. Anyone know any guides down there? Im just looking for a half a day in the mangroves. I know the guys down there can be expensive but my max is $350 for half a day.
Can’t remember any guide names down there, but there are plenty. I used to spend a lot of time in Cape Coral and would go out of Burnt Store Marina. I would also recommend throwing a few baits off the beach if you have the time. The tarpon cruise the shoreline like its going out of style. Wish I was going. Love that place!
There’s a dock on the inshore side at the southern tip of Sanibel that is a great spot. We caught spanish, snook and even hooked a king there. Saw a guy land a big bull red too. There’s a bait store on the island that sells live shrimp and will help you out.
Don’t remember the name. You’d have to google it.
Ozzy Fischer guides out of South Sea’s plantation on Captiva and he is awesome. Also John Landry from Fort Myers beach. I think he does some pickups from punta rasa right there on the causeway. Those guys are legit!

Ok. So we are staying at Casa Ybel on the beach, would you recommend just fining the surf? Ive heard that snook patrol those areas as well as tarpon. Im also downsizing the tackle size for traveling reasons. Im bringing my inshore stuff ( 3000 ben battle and a 7’6" rod). Might get smoked if a tarpon decides to have a go at it.
Early June= tarpon migration.
If you can, get a guide and fish for them. It’s a bit of money but memories for a lifetime.
