I still have the OEM battery in my 2006 Tundra. It is cranking fine and has given me no problems but, with it’s age, I know my days are numbered. We’re dragging the boat 1,400 miles round trip in a few weeks and don’t want to tempt fate so, I started looking at batteries. Wow, what happened? For starters, the choices are staggering and the prices are even worse. The last battery I bought was 5 - 6 years ago and it was $65. The cheapest one I can find for my Tundra is $105 and I don’t even know if it is any good.
Anyone out there bought a new battery lately? If so, I’d love some input from you “experts” on batteries.
Thanks!

LOL, I had a similar occurance back in the spring. My battery started showing tell tale signs of wear, with the increase in temperatures. I stopped by the parts house on the way home, and asked for a replacement batterry. The kid asked if I needed any help with the replacement, and I declined. So, I walked to the cash counter, and asked what the damage was? Like you, I was told $105.00. I said, WOW, the last battery I purchased was around $45.00. The kid grinned, and said, you haven’t bought a battery in a while, have you mister??[:0]

I bought 2,750 CCA for my boat this spring. $109 ea. My son was testing out a new Snap On battery diagnostic machine and used my PU. The truck is a 2004 Ram with the big Hemi in it. The machine gave him a reading of 350 CCA and the book calls for 750. He told me I needed a new battery. I told him me buy me a new one for my Bday. He gave me a $50 gift card. I laughed at him and asked it he thought that would do it. The battery is still in the truck and it cranks fine. It’s the orginal 2004 battery!
Replaced the one in my 04 Expedition at Sams Club same warranty as the others best price. Months later had some starting problem went back they checked it out said one cell was not holding at max power replaced it no charge. These vehicles need full battery power for all of the electrical and electronics to perform.
Wars in and around overseas lead mines are the main factor in high battery prices. If you sell any old batteries sell by the pound not battery. Some places are offering .17-.20 cents a pound. We’ve got a vendor that is giving us .41 cents. Crazy.
somtimes you can find places that sell dinged up batteries for a good bit off. Nothing wrong with them other than cosmetic flaws. I know there is one in Atlanta but not sure about Columbia.

Lead shortage is the reason prices are so high. I bought one last year with an eight year warranty for $180.00. Got it from O’Reilly. I just hope it lasts past the warranty.
I just bought one for my Tahoe. The battery was from Autozone and had a manufacture date sticker of 5/09 and it failed 6/13. I got no warning, just not enough to crank the old V8. Jumped it off with my boat and ran to grab another. I too was shocked by the $130 sticker price for an Autozone battery, but I didnt have time to shop around. I had just purchased an Interstate cranker for my boat a couple months earlier for $105. Would have preferred that for my Tahoe as well, but like I said, no time to do it that morning. I have been happy with the Autozone batteries over the last 10 years or so, have bought 3 for both vehicles. Nothing fancy, but they work until the day that die.

Try Interstate Batteries on E. Shop road. They sell blemished batteries. I haven’t bought one for a while, so I don’t have a price. But the last time I did get one, it was a lot cheaper than retail.

Just dropped 120 bucks on a new battery for the oldest daughter’s Sorrento. Have a warrantee and took it to the dealership last week for this to have the dealership diagnose who pronounced the vehicle OK. Wasn’t starting properly. Ya think they would have started with a battery check? Nope hook it to the computer and have a “technician” read the results. Want the dealership? PM me.
You should have to buy for a diesel. You get to buy 2 at once and the cheap one’s don’t get the job done. I think the last one’s I bought for my F350 were about $145.00ea.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

My original battery in our 4runner lasted about 9 years. After fooling around with a couple of cheap batteries I went back to Toyota and haven’t had any problems. The price only hurts for a little while.

I got lucky. A friend of mine owns an auto repair business. I was visiting him yesterday and we got on the subject. He had his parts guy get me an Autocraft Gold for $85. I am supposed to pick it up today.
