Car trailer

Thinking about going to pick up a Chevy c10 from family in Mississippi early next year- will need a car hauler to move it.

I would buy the trailer if I had a place to keep it (or if I would need it more than once) but likely will not need it more than a week. Is there any way to rent one? Or borrow one?

If you have one in roadworthy shape and we can work something out let me know- I have an f250 w/ ball hitch to move it (no goose neck)

UHaul usually rents out car trailers if you can’t find someone with one they will let you borrow

Does uhaul have anything bigger than a dolly? Hoping to get flat bed as the suspension is not great. Been sitting 10 yrs or so

I’ve seen dual axle car trailer U-Hauls before, not just the little dollys.
Edit: found a link, https://www.uhaul.com/Trailers/Auto-Transport-Rental/AT/

I have rented car trailers from U-Haul before. Brought a car back from Mobile a few years back.

I rebuilt a 68 step side that same color a long time ago. Straight 6, 3 on the tree. Great truck just no AC.

Was my Dad’s, and he sold it to my grandad when grandad’s long bed 283 died.

Has original AC and rear brakes have been replaced with disk. inline 6 leaks a bit of oil but probably will get crate 350 rather than rebuild.

Very Nice, left side body looks to be in great shape! Lots of options for a crate motor. The one below makes 365hp on 87 octane and comes with a 30 month 50,000 mile warranty. You won’t do the machine work and build one yourself for that price. I would also look into an automatic transmission. the synchronizers in the steering column on those manuals are a pain and you’ll get hung between gears when they do fail. That is if it is a manual.

You can get on some chevy forums and find all kinds of power train ideas. You can get put in an overdrive transmission with a stand alone Baumanator. That way you can gear it a little lower for low end and still have freeway gas mileage.

You have a good find even better with family history! Those things are getting harder and harder to find in decent shape since the high steel prices and cash for clunkers. Also factory A/c in those were uncommon. Take your time!

Carolina Machine in Johnston will rebuild your nostalgic engine for about $1000
http://www.cmengines.com/

I rented one from Uhaul a few months ago to take a car to Florida. I t was dual axle with ramps, $ 60 a day as long as I returned it where I rented it from. It is more costly if you are doing one way. It may benefit you more to rent it where you are picking up the vehicle and do a one way, at least that way you aren’t pulling a trailer down only back up. That way you could get away with a one way fee which may somewhere close to a two-three day fee of a two way rental. When I went to Florida I dropped the car off, got a few hours sleep and came back returning the trailer 30 minutes before it was due to avoid being charged another day.

sorry but no thanks… they are talking a $1000 just for re-man heads…

A 250 straight six could possibly be rebuilt for this price if no machine work was needed, and you did your own work, but why oh why keep the six?
