Carbon Fiber Paddle

My wife just got me a carbon fiber yak paddle for my birthday. I have never had a nice paddle like this before. Anything I need to know about carbon fiber, care, etc…?

Now I just need to find the time to use it.

I imagine you won’t want to push off of an oyster mound with it  Maybe some electric tape around the edges of the blade to help prevent nicks?

“My wife just got me”, aka I splurged. I’ve heard it before from this guy! haha

Nope, it was my birthday. I don’t “splurge” on me. Actually all I asked for was a photo of my wife and 2 boys. She never listens to me.

Just messin. We have some carbon fiber pole equipment at work, pole like material built like the paddle shafts. It holds up fine, no maintenance. The fiber has a coating so mud and salt wont harm.

Oh I know. I guess I was just surprised she got it. It looks too nice to use, especially around oysters.

Doug, you can wax it or use rain X or nevr wet and pretty much eliminate the paddle dripping into your lap.

They are incredibly strong, but not too forgiving of impact. If you scratch it up, you can make it pretty again with a little wet sanding and clear lacquer. If the shine bothers you, you can spray it with matte clear and have an awesome looking “hot rod black” paddle

Boat drinks, Waitress I need 2 more boat drinks!

Good deal. It just looks so much purttier than my other paddles, wanted to make sure it wasn’t high maintenance or needed anything special.

Thanks Tommy!
