The fishing just keeps getting better. The maui bite is one to tell your neighbors about. Great day on the waters w/ Sells, Joey, and Will. Sealed the box at 10:15 w/ bigger fish. Best one weighed just under 40 for Joey. Some other real nice ones over and around 30. I think that we kept 23 but didn’t get a good count. Pulled the big rigs all day. Caught at least six good ones on lures. Had a blue one up but it was not to be. Would have liked to try and catch one for the rest of the day but the ocean was sporty. Bottom fished next to the Gulfstream for 1 hour w/o a fish. Lots of good marks on the ledge but nada. Too rough to anchor but the NE breeze fighting the current kept us from moving. Drift was less than .1 mph. Wow.
Got mad at the mauis b/c the crew had a total of 6 hours of sleep w/ the score Paul 4, Joey 1, Will 1, and Daniel 0. Made for a tough battle. Ocean layed down real nice for the ride in. Fished inshore and south of the 226 on a weedline running inshore / offshore. Lots of abandoned longline gear on the line and about 40 crab floats, assorted nets, 6 turtles, and 12 cocunts. May have seen some cocoa plant floating but we will leave that for someone else to catch.
Back in around 12:30. Lures of the day were all of the wet ones. Go get them folks. Oh yeah, caught one flyer in the boat and a lock drag mackeral high speeding at 20 knots on the way out. Congrats to winder joey for the first of the year.
sounds like another good day for ya. congrats. looking for the man in the blue suit eh? better luck next time. we caught nada on the sandbar mon. oh well sheba had fun. hope we can get togather for that overnighter. hopefully yft’s are here to stay. could get pretty ugly with our crew. drive waaaay around those floating packages. would’nt want to be associated w/ that[:0]. what’s up w/ the longline gear?? not a good start for those fellas. make some quick enemys.
Congrats on the smokin hot day of fishing, really wish I could have been out there with yall. Glad to hear about the greenhorns finally getting their tips wetted just a little bit. After I’m done with this seaschool we will have to try the night species again.
PQ - overnighter Monday or Tuesday night of next week?
Tips - I think that I am in love. I did find that note, not much to it, but a note none the less. I hope you don’t expect me to let you off the hook this weekend just b/c of a little class during the day… let’s find some new species - no nieces or nephews in town so we can pull the big baits.
