My youngest son had an auto accident last week and his car was totaled so we are now car shopping…oh joy. Fortunately, he was not injured.
I dread having to buy a car, but I dread even more having to deal with people on a private sale. I thought I’d check some of the more reputable dealers as well as CarMax and Carvana but wanted to see if anyone has had any experience (good/bad) with either. Anyone ever bought from either (CarMax/Carvana)?

just bought a used car this weekend that will be my daughters after about a year or so of wife driving it. this place was great. Nice, laid-back people. We dealt with Katie and Mark(i think) the dolphins fan. they travel to specific auctions to buy their cars and they are gone through up and down by reputable mechanics.

When I was moving from the USVI back to South Carolina, I appreciated the ability to search for exactly what I wanted with Carmax . It was waiting for me upon my arrival which was great because I only had a couple days to purchase the truck before leaving town and didn’t want to travel to buy it or deal with haggling and negotiating a price with a dealer.
I would purchase from Carmax again.

Yeah, I live in Columbia, so I’d be dealing with places in this area. Good to hear about CarMax. Both have pretty good online reviews; I was just looking for some firsthand experiences from folks I trust.
Can only speak to Carmax…about as smooth of a car shopping experience I’ve ever had. Search inventory online, narrow down to a couple, go to dealership (West Ash), minimal haggling and I was on my way. Good luck with your search and good to hear your boy wasn’t hurt in the crash!
