Carolina 21 or 23 Skiff DLV Owner Question?

Can some share their experience with either of these 2 models:

Recommended horsepower?
How’s the ride in a 1 to 2 foot chop - wet or not?
Can a trolling motor be easily configured to the front?
Any special configurations need to be done to the trailer to compensate for the hull design?

Thanks

One of my buddys uncle has the 21 ft version with a Suzuki 140… It powers that boat very well, and it gets up and planes out with ease and cruises effortlessly around 30 and topped out near 40. I have only been on it once and it was a very calm day, so i cant relate to how it would do in choppy conditions.

Go with the 23 footer.

I fish with my uncle’s year old 23ft DLV in wilmington, nc. It is powered with a Honda 130 or 140. Can’t remember exact HP. But it is plenty.

The ride is very dry. Since it is a skiff, it can get bumpy in choppy seas. The v hull and bigger size really help dampen the ride though. That doesn’t bother us because of the places the skiff can get into and the dry ride.

Bow mount trolling motor is no problem. We outfitted his last fall. We have new wireless trolling motor and stand on lean to bench to sight fish. No poling platform.
