CAROLINA SALTWATER ANGLERS ALLIANCE
WHY
This Alliance is needed so that we as Recreational Fishermen have some political clout. We need to be able to address the issues that directly affect us. As we all know the Recreational Fisherman is the first one to be affected by new regulations. The Commercial interests have all the say in what happens. The Carolina Recreational Fisherman has a far greater economic impact than the Commercial Interests.
WHO
It is up to all established Fishing Clubs to stand up and be heard. There is power in numbers. We need a seat at the table, up until now only Commercial Interests have spoken. The decisions are made to quiet these interests. These decisions usually have an adverse on us.
HOW
We can gain the recognition we need and deserve by banding together and push for equality when new regulations are in their infant stages. In most cases we are informed after the fact and must live with the new regulations. We need to be involved in the decision making process. Every club needs to have representation on this Alliance. The Board would need to have periodic meetings as set forth by The Alliance Representatives. Meetings could be held in rotating locations to accommodate everyone. It is recommended that each club have two representatives on this Alliance.
WHEN
This project needs to be put into motion ASAP. Any delay will further hinder the future of our recreational fishing.
We need a meeting of the Club Reps. to write a mission statement, elect officers and list priorities and any other business we will need to start The Alliance in the work that is sorely needed.
