Carolina Skiff 218 DLV

Brother-in-law just bought a Carolina Skiff 218 DLV with a Yamaha 150 4 stroke. Went out last weekend to try it out and could not get more than 25mph and the boat would porpoise with an over abundance of spray coming in at the stern. After putting the boat back on the trailer, it was obvious the motor was set too low (XL) shaft. First of all Bro-in-law had to take boat back to dealer from Lake Murray (won’t call dealer’s name) and they have had it a week. Put new tabs with heavier cylinders on them, raised the motor 4 inches, and added 2 deep cycle batteries in the front and says its balanced.

Dealer still has boat. Anyone else had similar issues with the 218 Carolina Skiff?

I have heard some of the 2013 boats are having this problem. The topic is covered pretty well on Carolinaskiffowner.com. I would tell your brother-in-law to stay in contact with the dealer on this and be patient. This is an issue that will be covered under warranty. I know it is hard but try not to get too mad at the dealer. It’s really not their fault.

A 218 should be like driving a rocket with a 150 on the back. Get the dealer to make it good.

my buddy has a 115 and runs 35
