Carolina Skiff Purchase

Been looking to buy a new boat and the Boat Show was a great place to compare models, features, options, and prices. Decided to go with a 218 Carolina Skiff. If you went to the show, Hanckel had one with a T-top that had a great price. We did not want a T-top so we ordered one our way. It pretty much was now or never as we will both retire within 7 years. Our 2000 17 CC Scout is still in great shape but the family is much larger since its purchase. The 218 Carolina Skiff can handle the entire family for trips to barrier islands and has plenty of room and storage for fishing. It flies with the 115 Yamaha and seating is great. We are expecting delivery in about three weeks and are very excited. Any input (positive/negative) is appreciated. Thanks and tight lines, Mike.

Looks like you have a great combo. I loved my carolina skiff. It will never replace a bay boat in a chop or windy day, but you can carry a lot of people, and those things are awesome on gas. Its fun to drift those turns at high speed too. Great choice and I understand what you say about a growing family. I miss my 17ft boat sometimes, but I cant justify having 2 boats, since I dont use the one I have often enough.

Thanks for the ■■■■■■■■. The gas issue has been related to us several times but we just thought it was sales talk. We purchased the DLV model and can’t wait to take delivery. Daughter and SIL are purchasing the Scout so now we can all be on the water at the same time. I thought our 100 HP Yamaha was quiet but the new 115 is almost silent! Plus, we got 5 yrs manufacturers warranty buying now. Tight lines, Mike.

Hey Mike, welcome to the CSO club!!! CSO stands for Carolina Skiff Owner. There is a website carolinaskiffowner.com and it’s loaded with info on your new rig. I know your gonna have alot of fun with it. It’s a great platform to fish from and it’s perfect for those barrier island shell collecting trips. Good luck with the new rig!!!
