Carolina Skiff

I am thinking about getting one but wanted to get some opinions from a few owners about what they like and not like. The boat will be used inshore and occasionaly out to the harbor.
There is 1 question that I have in particular,In the booklet that I got from the dealer on the different models,it says Carolina Skiff recommends smart tabs for better economy and to reduce bow rise upon take off,why is that needed?

If you are interested, I know of a good deal on a 19’ Skiff. My mom bought one two years ago and just doesn’t use it. It is a 2006 hull with a 2001 Yamaha 115 that was purchased new in 2001. It was a crate motor that hadn’t sold until 2006. There is still an option for warranty, etc. and the boat has very low hours. She wants to sell it, so I’m sure we could work out a pretty good deal. If you are interested, send me an email...bbright001@hotmail.com The boat is located near Hilton Head Island, SC.

DD,

I have had a 23 footer DLV series that we use to fish up in the Wrightsville area with. It is powered with a Honda 135 on it. I would only buy the v series hulls.

It is a very good all round boat. We use it to fish inshore, near shore, beach it at Masonborough inlet, use it as a water taxi and water ski. The will hold a ton of people and weight.

We haven’t had any problem with bow rise but I didn’t put the max power on the boat either.

Only real problem with the boat is loading and unloading. With the big lip on the Carolina skiffs bow they can get lodge on roller post and mess up the fiberglass if you are not careful. Since this is a known problem with carolina skiff’s there are a lot of remedies. I just leave it docked year round up there now and trailer once a year for maintenance.

which one are you looking at?
we have salvaged several of the new style 17footers with the low sides, narrow beam, and v in the bow.
they get a few inches of water in the floor, and you step to the side, and they flip
they ride better than the old ones, but they arent as stable

Check out Bulls Bay Skiffs. We have some on our website at www.berkeleyoutdoors.com

Check out the Sundance skiffs as well. Great boats and are a family owned business. I’d rather buy a boat from a family than a board of directors. I had a B22 with a F150 and loved it!

I just got a Sundance brochure and I have to say, on paper, they have some nice looking boats and several different models and hull configurations. Have not seen one close up or seen prices but might be worth looking at.
