Been a long couple days. Last night we applied some 202 and 328 to the hull. At midnight we headed for the coast to pick out some teak for our covering boards, floor, helm pod, and toe rail. Picking out boards and matching grains took about 5 hours. Then headed back just in time to drop of the teak at our new shop before heading to the current shop to block out the 328 and spray with 442 primer. The teak pictured below is about 60% of it. The coming boards and covering boards are at the mill, we elected to go the expensive route and cut our boards in half so that the grains will be a mirror image from port to starboard side. Tomorrow we are moving shop equipment and getting the 21’ on the trailer. Should be a nice change of pace.
Hey guys hows the boat coming or are you 100% on the 36 now?
The 21’ is around, we have been wating on some teak but it has come in. We will dry-fit everything and make the helm pod. Then its off to paint. I keep telling Joel we will have it done in time to run to the ledge for some mahi…
Nice boat.
Nice lines.

This may sound stupid, but
I keep looking at your trim tab wells and I can’t understand or figure how they are going to work

Oh, Sorry I think your work is superlative and shows a lot of care, patience and skill.

Without reading all 10 pages to find the answer to a question that has probably already been asked! What is the finished, dry weight?

Not stupid I’m almost certain those trim tab recesses are for QL Marine (Volvo Penta) tabs. They are very different from standard tabs. See http://www.great-water.com/pages/QL/QL_Trim_Sys.htm
If you look at the pic of the tabs, the recess will make sense.

Brooks: Thanks for the compliment man we really do appreciate them! And yes the trim tabs recesses are for volvo tabs.
We have it estimated at around 3000lbs dry without power. 4000 ready to fish. thats approximiating 1000lbs for fuel and power.
(250 fourstroke, 70 gals. of fuel)

Solid boat! Thats not to bad ready to fish. You forgot the 3 fat guys and the beer an ice, so add another 1,000 lbs!
LOL! definately a solid boat. there are some extras like real teak floor and covering boards, and the center console with the electrically actuated top center console and solid leaning post that are upping the weight but it all should look amazing!

Did you guys get down to Miami and forget you have boats to build??? Need to see some progress pictures. Do you need me to come and give a hand?? I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night…
Oh who could forget sanding! progress has been steady. You have the qualifications to sand. However if you have been enjoying the build we wouldn’t want to ruin you by pushing a block!
You guys are dedicated, and we all thank you for taking the time to let us see day by day progress, but stop watching the race and post more pictures! Kidding, you guys are doing great things!
Man I just found this thread this AM and have been trying to get some work done but not having much luck Coming from someone that just helped some Cub Scouts build birdfeeders from a handful of pieces of 1"X boards…well what do I say but TOTALLY AWESOME!!!
Haven’t got on your website yet (I have to get something done today!!) but keep these posts coming! Really appreciate watching the whole build process.
