Carolina Style Flats Build

How close will that come to hitting the steering wheel when it’s being raised up?

Bryson,

The console will have a teak helm pod which brings the wheel away from the actuated top.

Here are a few pics of the interior glassed. Now to a few fun weeks of faring!

Took the 17’ out on a sea trial tonight and got a few good shots of the LED lighting!

Flood coat is on. Also finished the glass lamination on our console.

Those light pics are too cool. The underwater light by the engine makes it look like it’s going 50 mph - tied up to the dock!

Well the past week has been nothing but spreading, spraying, and sanding. We are narrowing in on it but she will be perfect when done. Tomorrow we will pull some fillets which will really tie everything together.

Can’t wait to see the finish product on this one. just found this thread, very cool to see it from begining to end. You guys are true craftsmen my hat’s off to you nice work!!!

This is one of the coolest builds I’ve seen yet, jki4405, where did you get your LEDs, I’ve been think about putting them on my boat but want to ensure that what I am buying will last me a while.

cam, LED lights are Lumitec. Great product.

The past week doesn’t show a ton of progress but we are into the time consuming details that have to be perfect before final finish. Once we finish installing the hatch gutters and glass and fare them, we will spray one final coat of Alexseal 328 and do a final round of blocking. Hoping to have boat in the paint booth by the end of the month!

We are in the middle of moving shop so not much progress to show but we did start on the actuated console top and glued in the forward hatch gutters.

Have not read all 9 pages. Is this for a customer? for sale? One of the best looking boats i have ever seen!

Thanks USAF,

You will notice that all 9 pages are actually two different boats. The first boat was a 17’ flats boat which was built for a customer. This current build is a 21’ and will be for sale. We are also starting on a 36’ cc in January which is for a customer. We also started a separate build thread for that one.

Thanks again!

Nice looking console. Just curious, how high does the console stand when fully open? I like the concept and the design is very fluid, I am just curious if it will be visually obstructive for average height operators.

How do keep water/rain/etc from running down the front face and into the wire/electronics area below the console?

Again, very awsome boats! Think i can get some contact info? Have any molds for a 24-28’? Be financialy ready to purchase a new boat this year and would love a 24-28’ carolina hull design with a big single.

If you do have a mold in that size, if i can get my hands on a 7 marine motor (which i think i can), could you power it with that?

USAF Kingfisher,

Thanks again. We are building 100% custom so whatever your looking for in a boat/motor setup we are willing to design and build. We use cnc cut jigs instead of molds which really widen the range of options. I can be reached at 704-622-8978 or my contact info is on our website at www.xceleratorboatworks.com or facebook.com/xcelerator

Questions on the console: when opened it is about 4’ tall, standard console height. The opening is sealed off with a rubber gasket system to keep water out.

Last coat of Alexseal 328 is on… getting close!!!

Blocked the 328 out to 180 and now have a coat of alexseal 442 finish primer on. We will block it out to about 300. Also fitted all the glassed hatch doors. Now ready to fair them.
