Miles Crosby has asked me to be his co-host on a new hunting and fishing show, “Carolina Wild Side” on Comcast channel C2. It will air every Thursday from 7-8pm. We had lowcountry legend Ben Moise as the first guest discussing his book and telling stories. Miles is an accomplished broadcaster and sportsman and I’m excited about the opportunity to tag along and offer some fishing expertise and anecdotes.
I need ideas! If you have suggestions for guests or topics, please let me know. Next week I’m planning to have Wallace Jenkins from DNR in to talk about the cold weather and its effect on the fishery and more. We’re also going to try something new and have a local captain skype in a report straight from the boat. I have a bunch of ideas that involve CFers, so don’t be surprised if you hear from me. For example…my good friend Scotty D has agreed to come in and kick off the Shad season in February with some photos and flies! We’ll eventually be doing the show live and taking live calls and skypes, but for a few weeks we’ll be recording them. You can also watch anytime as each segment of the show will be available online at www.Carolinawildside.com. This is all brand new and a work in progress, but I’m hopeful we can put something together that will be both entertaining and a valuable resource for our sporting community. Thanks again for any suggestions and please call in with your questions and comments on Thursdays.
We are going to attempt to cover any and all local fishing opportunities and events, fresh or salt. We’d also like to get stories from locals as they travel to hunt or fish. The actual activities can be anywhere, we just want to have some kind of local connection. Send ideas to www.Carolinawildside.com. Thanks!
make sure part of the trip with scottyD is over to the rediversion canal. there are some interesting characters on the bank over there - malt liquor drinkin men, women in housecoats and crocs, posers in pastel columbia fishin shirts - really it can be a sight on a sunny day.
how bout a show with stretch bowhuntin catfish in the ricefields?
Maybe a show on the ACE Basin rivers. All three have lots of fantastic wild scenery. Catching reds and largemouth fishing the same water.
If you want to do a show on crappie in the Midlands check with Marc at The Crappie Hole in Chapin. He makes his living fishing for crappie and has done a few articles for magazines. I’m sure he would love to do a show.
*THATS JUST MY OPINION, I MAY BE WRONG.
