I do alot of tournament carp fishing over in GA and have alot of friends here that would like to experience catching a few. I don’t mean grass carp but common carp. I’m putting a camping trip together to go to Short Stay on a Saturday night in the near future. My plan is to go a few days earlier and chum/bait the waters to draw them in. My usual bait of choice is either soy bean, trout chow, or horse feed soaked for a few hours in water to ensure it doesn’t float away. My question are: are there any other places other than Short Stay to do this kind of fishing? Is it even legal to catch/target common carp (catch and release only) in South Carolina? I’m sort of on a budget and would like to cheaper place to stay. Guest would be 10-15 (military) folks.
Sorry, I dont fish for Carp, So I can not advise… The SCDNR website would be a good source of info as far as the legal aspect. Hope that helps… http://www.dnr.sc.gov
