I have been wanting to learn how to fish for carp on the fly and Saturday I got my chance.I had asked some questions on this site about it how to do it and someone suggested www.carolinabonefishing.com and the guide Capt Paul Rose. I just want to say thanks.I had the best day with a guide I have ever had. Paul will teach you what you need to know and then put you on Fish after Fish. Teaching you the whole time. Paul will also fish you until you want to stop.I have been wanting to go catch redfish on the fly but with gas prices I have just done other things. The carp pull just as hard if not harder and I will not be chasing redfish when I can be chasing carp.If you have never done this it is the perfect thing to do in the summer time when all the trout have lockjaw. Here is a picture and I would give Paul a call. 704-616-6662
I lived in Colorado for a while and some folks called carp “Colorado bonefish”. Up there they were very picky and spooky. I could never crack the code.
What do you throw at them?
I am glad you had a good time with Paul Shallow. Nice fish.
Can’t agree they pull harder than a redfish though…
Flygator
We only tossed a black wolly bugger. The fish are very spooky and I messed up on a lot of the fish by putting the fly on top of the fish. It seemed that on about 50 percent of the fish just the fly hitting the water or they would see me casting and they would be gone.
He did have a beatle on one rod that floated and I tossed into a school that was feeding on something falling off a tree.
Toothlessblue,
You had to pop my bubble. With Diesel fuel at 4.79 a gallon on NC and me 260 miles from the coast I would like to think that I am catching something that pulls as had as a redfish. LOL
