Carp

Is anyone interested in going after some 20 to 40 pound Carp on some flats in the Cooper river? I see them all the time. I actually saw a show with Flip Pallot sp? fishing with a guide up North for carp on the flats of one of the great lakes. Just a thought.

They are alot of fun on the flyrod. I have some lakes in my area where I can get them. Anyone close to that area should try it!

I get back from Africa in about a month, I am dragging my fly rod with me to see what I can stick in the Niger River  I hear they have tiger fish, those toothy lookin suckers that look like a baracuda with saber teeth… When I get back we have to meet up and throw some flies at some fish… I don’t care what. I really want to catch a red on the fly but as long as it has fins I am game. BTW Nice Carp flyguy!

I would love to get out there w/ ya. That looks like a buffalo carp. awesome fight huh? Ive only caught grass carp. I bartend, so if you want to give em a shot one day, I have my days off, mostly. Great fish! I also have a video camera if you want some film of it all. let me know, scottyd

Scotty I would love to go Carp fishing…The area I fish is in the upstate. If you ever up this way shoot me a email. I plan on heading back down to Charleston when my funds build back up and when its a little cooler. BTW Its a Grassy. Lake I fish is full of them…They are super picky eaters.

I’d be interested, because I know how much fun it is. You see, several years back the magazine Fly Fish America did an article on me doing just that. You can’t beat the fight! Up here in the mountains we call them freshwater redfish; because we find them tailing ofcourse. We target them with 5 wts, 4 lb tippet, and our secret fly!

I’m tired of talkin’ the chicken sh*t.

So does that mean someone would be interested in hitting the Cooper up around Pimilico? See them in there all the time. Up to 30+ pounds. BPS offers a carp fly selection.

Hey brother. How was Cherokee?

Take that as a no. Trout fighing sucks in the mountains right now, unless you are in to killing fish. Can’t wait to get back up in Oct.

Rookie give me a call ill give it a shot with you. I dont mind trying espically if its around here. Dont think I would travel to fish em but I will definately head out there with you and give it a shot. Let me know you got my number give me a jangle. I wont be around till the 14th of Sept. though man…im going to miss some good tides…:dizzy_face: The Montana trout will be worth it though…I hope:sunglasses:
Always look forward to getting away from the usual and trying something new espically the trout scene in MT
