Carp...

I see a lot of carp in small ponds all over the place. I have tried dough balls, cheese recipes, packed bread, pre-made stuff nothing seems to interest them. Ideas??

Are they grass carp or German carp? I use to chum German carp with soured corn and then fish with whole kernel canned corn threaded on the hook. If they are grass carp, use pieces of bell pepper.

BH made good points. Probably grass carp. Bell pepper, lettuce, grass clippings with rubber band around hook (serious), bait area with corn and fish later, etc. I’ve seen grass carp fly patterns made to look like milfoil or other aquatic plants they may see…new twist on ‘match the hatch’. Where folks feed floating pellets to their fish, which grass carp love, they will hit flies tied to look like pellets and I ran into one guy who glued pellets on to small hooks. Me…I’d try the corn bit. They fight good.

Sweet! I have tried the floating fish food for about a week and the turtles and small bream and bass are loving it. May have to get a little change up.

caught my biggest (accidental) carp on a clear topwater torpedo in the lake. around 30 lbs.

Corn. If you can, throw some corn in the same place same time for about three days and on the fourth throw out a small handful and then throw your hook with two pieces of corn on it. You’ll be hooked up in no time.
