Cast and Blast Boats

Has anybody heard of, seen, been in one of these boats? They are supposedly made locally. If you have seen one I would like your opinion. Maybe check the boat show in a couple of weeks to see if one is there.

Hanckel marine sells them. Good people over there, they would let you check one out without pressuring a sale on you.

They’re built by Brooks Oswald on James Island. Well made, nicely optioned, and the ride is just as you’d expect from a small skiff.

In my opinion, at speed, they’re a little wobbly, probably due to the lack of any sort of “pad” on the bottom in the stern. It’s a straight V bottom with very little in the way of chines…

He’s also got a 22’ aluminum bay boat prototyped…

16’ Bentz-Craft Flats Boat

I have one with a 50 HP Yamaha on the back and love it. It’s dry and sturdy. Actually just christened it with barnacle burn while tearing up the sheepshead a few weeks ago. In the summer I use it for flounder gigging, and it does a great job. Most impressive is the fuel consumption, though. Take one for a test drive-- I’m sure you’d like it! Plus they’re really great folks over there.
