cast net question

Time for new cast net. Where do you buy your inshore cast nets? What brand do you prefer?

Thanks,

I have a Betts Old Salt 6’ 1/2" mesh. It throws pretty good. Used to throw better before I snagged some oysters with it and had to do an on the boat repair job. $45 at Ace Hardware.

I just bought a Tim Wade net. Throws great and a great price for a custom net ($115 including shipping). See the shrimp section for his contact info…

I buy the $$$30.00 6 foot 1/2 in mesh from walmart, jus because they last a couple years and they throw pretty good.

A couple years…If I make a season on one I did well…[:0]

I’m tired of being told that I have to “spread the wealth” to people who don’t have my work ethic. I’m tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it. I think I’m going fishing…!!

I’ve bought cheap ones, I’ve bought expensive ones. They all work equally well at catching Oysters. :slightly_smiling_face:

Doc, I try to keep mine away from oysters and stuff that’ll ruin em so cheap ones work for me lol

Yep…it is imposible to make them last too long in MI for sure…even when you know where to throw…:face_with_head_bandage:

It took me all of 5 minutes to find an oyster bed the other day in mi lol

I need to spread mine out on the driveway to make repairs after my recent trip to MI. The last one I bought was from Adventure Products in Macon, GA. I needed a 1/4 in mesh to use in Florida for bait. Do you know how long it takes to get 100 gilled baitfish out of a 3/8 mesh net?

I’d rather fish than eat.

Man I wish I could say mine only lasted a month…but that would mean I was on the water a lot. I buy new ones because I get tired of the rope color!! Lol
