Dental floss if on the boat and in a hurry. Easier to handle. Just double knot it. At the house some 10-12 mono will last longer. I used red line so you can see the knots when you are finished. Then add one drop of super glue to each knot. Last right on like that. The first cast I had with a new 8’ blue once got me a pile of shrimp and a 3.5’ ray! Took 140 stitches to fix it at the house. Still using that net. Gives your net some character.
I’ve put some duct-tape on a couple of holes. Got to admit Penny taught us that one. Just apply over the hole on one side, then stick a similar sized piece on the other side, good to go.
I also like to diff colored mono suggested, esp. good idea for those if us who don’t see so good ‘close-up’ like we used to:wink:
I had a bird’s nest with some 15lb yellow Power Pro and used it to repair the lead line separating from the net…double knot it and even a drop of super glue if necessary…plus I can also tell where my previous repairs were…this is also why I have a cheap walmart net I throw in the creeks for bait and a nice net I throw shrimp baiting (can’t prevent a ray here though)…
at least you have one you can fix…I tried to catch me a stump a few weeks ago up the stono…(yes…donnie did say he thought there was a stump there) :(…net came back looking like one of those 70’s dance fever tapered dresses :(…have some nice bottom weights now and a extra rope…so anyhow…went and got a new 8 foot superpro last weekend :)…now donnie swears I did it on purpose ;),did not,did not,did not…well I had lost the nice bucket it came in
the zip ties are the way to go if it’s an “on the fly” situation in the boat. I dunno about you, but I’m usually a few beers deep by the time I start tearing up gear so the zip ties are great if you want a quick fix so you can get back to destroying your tackle. Obviously the mono would work better, but as far as patching a hole and getting the net back in the water I’d keep a few zip ties on hand just in case.
