I landed a massive rock this weekend getting greedy throwing for bait. My net now has a tear from the horn down to the weights. It’s a Betts old salt 6’x3/8". Is it worth repairing or should retire it? Can I salvage any part of it to use on another net?
Best way I’ve found to repair large tears is with 10 or 12 pound mono line. If the tear is all the way down the net, may not be fixable/worth the effort. You’ll have to judge that for yourself.

</font id=“quote”></blockquote id=“quote”>Time for a new one. If it has real lead weights, I would salvage them, maybe the main line with the swivel as well, and throw the rest away.

RIP my “Puppy Dog” 10/15/2004 - 1/14/2013. Still can’t get him out of my mind. What a special friend he was.
If you throw it away, destroy it first. I use a butane torch to melt/shrivel all the mesh, then cut it up. No point in killing the trash birds too.
Or you can recycle the mesh anywhere they take mono.
