What mesh size/weight nets do most people use for menhaden?
Pretty much any. They’re really easy to get and they run the wrong direction when spooked.
I use an 8 ft 3/8 mesh old salt net with extra weight added. My dad left it on the boat a few years ago and it just lives there now.
I use a 10’ 5/8" net. i think it has 17 lbs of lead. i like something that sinks fast with a wide spread because sometimes they are deep… If you’re on the menhaden really good, you’ll catch more than you need in one cast and get on with your day of fishing faster.
I have a 10ft 1" mesh taco cast net that is New-old-stock. I could sell pretty cheap if you’re interested.
Like the 1" on big bait but it a bugger on small one that get stuck and you have to bite them out! How much is cheap?
