What is your preference of cast net for catching bait, size, weight, brand? I have a cheap betts blue now but have not been really happy with it, I think it is too light. Also looking to purchase a deephole net if you have any suggestions. Thanks for your input.

3/8 net seems to work fine for inshore bait. As heavy as you can get it (and manage) for what you want to pay. I don’t think a huge diameter is as important - it’s more important that you can toss it fairly quickly and correctly. Ability to toss a pancake quickly and consistently will equal more bait than one you can’t always get to open or takes you too long to process a cast. If you put a small- medium diameter on the bait fully open, you’ll have what you need for a day of fishing with one cast. The Betts have always worked fine for me for the money, again for basic inshore bait casting…and I don’t have to worry too much ($) if I tear it up hitting an oyster bed!
3/8 6’ for bait in the creeks. 5/8" 8-10’ superpro (taped) for deep holes. The law requires you to use a 1/2" or larger when casting for shrimp to eat, so deep holing or baiting use the big net.
