Hi Folks, I’ve been throwing a cheap 8’ net for years.
Time for a new one, just wondering what kind/brand to get…
What do you recommend.
Thanks in advance.

Best thing is to have the boat and find a friend with a Tim Wade who likes to throw!
Tim Wade net is awesome. Bett’s superpro works pretty well.
I purchased a 7ft Tim Wade & 7 ft Lee Fisher last year and wish I would have just gotten two Tim W nets, opens nicely.
Got Black Pearl net too. These are very good nets also

Call Tim Wade (321) 729-9537 as busy as he is he will talk with you like he has nothing to do. Explain what you won’t too use the net for and let him make a recommendation on what to get. There’s nothing like a custom made net, for the same price as a store bought. Rope length you won’t, mesh size, and weight you won’t be disappointed. I have a 11’ he made for me the way I wanted it.
I agree with the Tim Wade recommendation. I have several of his nets. I had to get used to the big horn, as I thought all my shrimp would get out through the horn. Some do, but the big horn helps Tim’s nets open really flat, so you catch more than you lose.
I used the Super Pro nets for years. They are good nets too. But, the Time Wade nets open better and are the best for the money. I use a 7ft x 5/8" mesh. It is not too heavy, but still sinks really fast. The 5/8" mesh allows the “creek shrimp” to escape, leaving the “Jumbos”. I’ve had enough of spending forever heading a cooler full of little shrimp!

Wade here for baiting also
I have two Tim Wade nets and love them. His nets can’t be beat for their value. A neighbor was in the market for a new net and asked me about what I used. I talked him into coming over to look at my Wade’s and after trying them on my lawn, he ordered one on the spot. I have Tim’s number on my contact list.
I’m thinking about getting one. What size weights do you recommend on a 7 footer ?
Again keep in mind, your not buying a of the self net. This is a custom built net, call him and tell him what your going to do with it. If you’re shrimping over bait in 6’ of water, using a 7’ 5/8 mesh you could get by with less weight, (easier on the back) less rope…If
you’re going to deep hole you might won’t more weight more rope.
It depends on what your use is going to be. That’s where he will be able to help you. This is not a net you will won’t to take in a creek to catch bait with, get a Walmart special for that. But will be able to enjoy a soft easy to open net.
